Even looking at the photo on photo two makes me scared! When we [me and my husband] first watched this we loved it! I can't quite remember if we went to the cinema to see it, I'm pretty sure we did and loved it so much we bought it on dvd.
Now though, we cannot watch it. All because my husband stupidly and purposefully made our phone ring whilst we started to watch it once and scared himself as well as scaring me that we just couldn't watch anymore!
As IMDb put it, simply the film is about "A young journalist must investigate a mysterious videotape which seems to cause the death of anyone in a week of viewing it".
Of course the journalist, played by Naomi Watts, had to watch the video as part of her investigation and then had to fight for her life, as well as her sons life, to not become a victim of the horror.
I highly recommend that if you watch this film you unplug the phone, and after watching it, turn your tv off at the wall, if you walk downstairs and past the tv in the middle of the night and see a snowy screen you will be sure to freeze with fright.....I speak from experience!
I lead you here to find out the Plot Summary from a variety of IMDb members.
Of course with there being a Ring Two, it can't go as well as you'd think, and the mystery of the video isn't over.
Again, taken from IMDb, this is the basic summary for The Ring Two, "Six months after the incidents involving the lethal videotape, new clues prove that there is a new evil lurking in the darkness"
Six months after encountering Samara and her killer video tape, Rachel Keller and her son Aiden leave the city to live in a small rural town where they think they'll be safe. Soon after they arrive, however, Rachel hears about a college student who died nearby in circumstances similar to Samara's past victims. Now it appears that Aiden's life is in danger from Samara once more, and Rachel must investigate the little girl's past if she wants to save her son.
Seriously, these films scare me, really really scare me. I'm not sure I'll be able to watch them again anytime soon. But, they are amazing films and for other horror fans who haven't seen it yet I HIGHLY recommend them.

I really enjoyed the Ring. It didn't scare me but it was creepy and very well done - especially the fial bt where she climbs out of the TV!.
It is an awesome film.
The original Asian Extreme version is even worse. Don't watch it. x
